The Horowitz law firm specializes in elder abuse, dependent adult, and long-term care litigation versus Nursing Homes, Board and Cares, Assisted Living and facilities for the disabled, as well as select medical malpractice and plaintiffs personal injury litigation. The firm has resolved over 100 cases versus long-term care facilities and corporations by trial, mediation, direct negotiation and acting as a consultant and sometimes partnering with other attorneys. Mr. Horowitz was trial counsel and co-appellate counsel in the landmark elder abuse case Delaney v. Baker (1999) 20 Cal.4th 23 in which the California Supreme Court established the legislative intent of providing special protection for the elderly. In 2004 and 2005, the firm was proud to receive numerous significant settlements from Kaiser and corporate nursing home defendants as well as working with the Attorney General's Office to uphold a double "AA" citation levied against a Sacramento nursing home.
For several years Mr. Horowitz has participated as a speaker and a moderator at numerous seminars and training sessions relating to elder abuse. He is also a published author (see below).
The Horowitz law firm is committed to doing their part in helping to change the nursing home industry's "business as usual" of understaffing and undertraining in order to make higher profits at the expense of our parents and grandparents. The firm works with top experts, keeps abreast of industry and government policies and changes and networks with top elder abuse attorneys throughout the country. Almost all of the firm's cases are referrals from other attorneys and non-profit organizations working on behalf of the elderly.
The years 2006 through 2010 have brought significant settlements in Medical Malpractice, Elder Abuse and Personal Injury cases.
